NEW ORLEANS – The Mercyhurst College women's cross country team was honored as an All-Academic Squad by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, USTFCCCA officials announced Friday evening.

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, a team must have a cumulative team grade point average of 3.00 or better and have compiled a score (finished at least five runners) at their respective NCAA regional championship.

The Lakers combined for a 3.58 GPA during the 2010 season, marking the 15^th best GPA among teams competing at the Division II level.

Kings College posted the highest GPA at 3.77, followed by fellow Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference team and cross-town rival Gannon at 3.74.
