NEW ORLEANS – The Mercyhurst College men's cross country team was honored Thursday as a United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Squad, USTFCCCA officials announced.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, the team must have a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have compiled a score (finished at least five runners) at their respective NCAA regional championship.
Mercyhurst was one of 68 NCAA Division II teams meeting the requirements, marking a 3.28 team GPA and placing 18th at the Atlantic regional last November.
Fellow Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference member and cross-town rival Gannon reported the highest cumulative team GPA among All-Academic honorees with a 3.64. BYU-Hawaii and Findlay followed with a 3.55.
