ERIE, Pa. -- Mercyhurst rallied to win the third set 25-19 while host Indiana University of Pennsylvania took the first two before closing out the match with a 25-15 win in the fourth set Saturday night at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.
Indiana (Pa.) improves to 11-20 overall as Mercyhurst falls to 14-16. The Lakers own a 6-11 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference record while Indiana (Pa.) moves to 5-12 in the PSAC.
Indiana (Pa.) took the victory by scores of 25-21, 31-29, 19-25, and 25-15. The Crimson Hawks hit .206 in the match while Mercyhurst hitting percentage was just .150.
Three Lakers registered 10 or more kills, sophomore Sara Vick tallied 13 kills in 24 chances with just one error. Junior
Becky Smith marked 11 kills in 29 chances making only three errors and teammate
Gretta Freyermuth marked 10 kills in 30 chances while making seven errors. Junior
Kiera Rebert added 30 assists in 89 chances.
Defensively,junior
Elyse Texido led the team with 13 digs while junior Amanda Blasko and Rebert both added 12.
For the Crimson Hawks, Morgan Cerveny had a game-high 14 kills and she also added four digs.
The Lakers conclude the regular season with two straight home matches. November 4
th will begin the two-game home stand as they take on the Fighting Scots of Edinboro at Mercyhurst Athletic Center. The match is set for a 7:05 start.
