ERIE, Pa. – Mercyhurst College men's and women's tennis coach Ray Yost has announced the signings of three women's players for the 2011-12 academic year.
Joining the nationally-ranked women's team will be Sarah Baich, Katelyn Caniford and Taylor Wedlake.
“These three young ladies will really add to an already strong team and will give us exceptional depth for the years to come," remarked Yost. “All three girls are exactly what we look for in a recruit with strong academics, good solid tennis foundations, and impressive competitive records. They are also exceptional young ladies.”
Sarah Baich – Pittsburgh, Pa. / Mt. Lebanon
Played varsity singles (No.1 and No. 2) all four years at Mt. Lebanon High School
Led Mt. Lebanon to the Pennsylvania State AAA Championship final in 2010
Western Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Athletic League bronze medalist
Ranked No. 1 in the USTA AMD Girls 18 singles & doubles
High Honor Roll at Mt. Lebanon High School
Katelyn Caniford – North Canton, Ohio / St. Thomas Aquinas
No. 1 singles player for St. Thomas Aquinas High School for four years
Named Most Valuable Player for three years
Three-year district qualifier in both singles and doubles (2010 Singles, 2008-09 Doubles)
