KUTZTOWN, Pa. – No. 18 Kutztown won the first four matches, including one by fall to build a comfortable lead and cruise to a 32-9 decision over Mercyhurst on Friday night.
The Golden Bears (15-3) collected two falls on the evening, opening the match with Chris Sheet pinning
John Worthington and ending the match with heavyweight Kevin Bolinski pinning
Fred Hale.
Posting victories for the Lakers (4-10) were
Andy Lamancusa and
Josh Shields. Lamancusa improved to 27-7 on the year with a fall over Derek Schmelyun in 5:39 before Shields posted a 10-4 decision over Anthony Frost to move to 26-3.
Lamancusa now owns a 107-42 career record at the ‘Hurst and is just three wins away from becoming the Lakers all-time victories leader. Zack Schafer, a three-time All-American at 165 lbs. is the current record holder with 109 victories (2003-07).
The Lakers are next in action tomorrow, Saturday, February 6 when they take on Shippensburg and Division III Delaware Valley in a tri-match hosted by Delaware Valley.
