Agosta, Canada Down Switzerland, 10-1, in Second Olympic Game

VANCOUVER – The Canadian National Women's Hockey Team won its second game of the 2010 Winter Olympics Monday evening, defeating Switzerland by a score of 10-1 at UBC Thunderbird Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Nine different players found the back of the net as the Canadians outshot the Swiss 62-12 and assured themselves a spot in the semifinals next week.

Mercyhurst College women's hockey forward Meghan Agosta led the offense with two goals, giving her five through two preliminary round games.

Canada built a 5-1 lead through the first two periods of play before exploding for five-unanswered goals in the third. Agosta got on the score sheet with back-to-back markers just three minutes and seven seconds apart in the second, giving the Canadians a 5-0 advantage.

The Canadians close out the preliminary round on Wednesday, Feb. 17 when they face Sweden at 2:30 p.m. at the UBC Thunderbird Arena.
