Lakers To Take on Rivals at Super Region I Duals

ERIE, Pa. --  The Mercyhurst College wrestling team hits the road this weekend for the Super Region I Duals, hosted by Newberry College.

The Lakers (2-6) look to snap a four-match losing streak when they match up against regional foes Anderson, Limestone, Belmont Abbey and UNC-Pembroke.

Headling the Lakers lineup is the nation's top-ranked 165-pounder and defending national champion Josh Shields.  Also nationally-ranked is 157-pounder Andy Lamancusa, who sits at No. 3 in the lastest National Wrestling Coaches Association poll after occuping the top spot for the last three rankings.

A youthful but deep lineup will be put to the test as the Lakers wrestle four duals in one day before returning to the Mercyhurst Athletic Center on Jan. 30 for a tri-match with cross-town rival Gannon and perennial powerhouse Newberry College.

Fans and media unable to attend Saturday and Sunday's Super Region I Duals sessions will be able to follow all of the duals with live statistics, updated results and full box scores courtesy of the Newberry College Sports Information Department.

Statistics, box scores and results will be available at: http://newberryathleticsite.com/page.asp?articleID=4296
