LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Junior Christie Turak continued to impress as the Mercyhurst College women's cross country team placed seventh Saturday morning at the 2009 Lock Haven Invitational in Lock Haven, Pa.

Turak, a junior from Erie, Pa., marked her second-straight first place finish with a time of 21:30, besting the next closest runner by 69 seconds. Just a week ago she led the Lakers with a first-place mark of 17:49 and became the first Mercyhurst female runner to run a sub 18-minute time.

Combined with her performances last season, Turak now has five first-place finishes and 10 top-10 finishes.

The Lakers, as a team, finished with a combined 154 points to finish above Mansfield and Clarion. Host-institution Lock Haven won the race with 38 points and placed all five runners in the top-20 while West Chester finished second with 76 points and five runners in the top-25.

Contributing to the team score, junior Jennifer Mieczkowski was the second Mercyhurst runner to cross the tape, marking a time of 24:15 to earn 13th place. Senior Amanda Ehrbar and freshman Jennifer Hoobler finished back-to-back in 49th and 50th place with times of 26:12 and 26:15, respectively, while senior Jess Pachlhofer captured 69th with a 27:48 reading. Sophomore Nicole Vonderau rounded out the Lakers with an 80th place time of 28:59.

The Lakers lace it up again this weekend when they take on the Notre Dame Catholic Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 19.
